Marcelle Clowes is a professional storyteller & victim advocate who loves empowering people & organizations through the Power of Story.
Since she was a little girl Marcelle has always loved to disappear into stories, especially stories rich with humanity that highlight strength and resiliency. Now, when Marcelle talks to people - be they acquaintances, clients, or old friends – it is their stories that jump out at her and the common threads of humanity among the uniquely individual details that engage her introspective nature and feed her never-ending desire to grow.
When Marcelle sits down to write she becomes engrossed in the storytelling process, enchanted by the progression of a story, and drawn in by the quest to find the common humanity that engages readers while honoring the Truth that no two stories are the same. Her dedication to honor the individual while guiding others to the nuggets deep within a story that can build connections between people and stories that, on the surface, appear to have nothing in common. Because of Marcelle's thoughtful and wise approach her stories encourage readers to grow much like she grows while researching and writing her stories.
In her non-profit work with victim/survivors Marcelle discovered her approach to sharing the stories of the people she worked with were not only empowering and healing for the victim/survivor advocates she worked with but were also more likely to engage policy makers, foundation grant managers, and the public to take action, volunteer, donate, and invest in the work of her organization. Marcelle now offers her uniquely compassionate, healing, and engaging storytelling style to a range of non-profit organizations increasing their profile and capacity to achieve ambitious goals and advance important missions.
When she is not busy meeting people and sharing their stories Marcelle can be found enjoying her fiancé’s fascination with their cats, encouraging her teenage twins to be deep independent thinkers, embrace compassion for themselves and others, and dream big. When she needs a break from family, friends, and work you'll find her running the streets or Raleigh, hiking in the Blue Ridge Mountains, or lost in an art project.
